About TANGEDCO: Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) is owned by the State Government of Tamil Nadu and was established on 1 July 1957 under the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948. In 2010, TNEB was restructured according to Electricity Act, 2003 into Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO); TNEB Limited; Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO). TANGEDCO serves as an electricity distribution public unit in Tamil Nadu. It distributes and provides electricity services in all villages and cities of Tamil Nadu.

Lodge Grievance to Electricity Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), TANGEDCO

Electricity Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), TANGEDCO takes complaints that are not resolved by TNEBLTD within the given time or are unsatisfied with the redressal. Customers can lodge grievances under the Electricity (regulation) Act, 2003 to the concerned CGRF office of your region in Tamil Nadu.

Instructions:

  • Customers can lodge grievances by two methods – 1. Manually (Offline) 2. Online
  • The grievance must be submitted within 3 months after expiry or final decision of TANGEDCO
  • The case must not be pending in any court or tribunal or the final order is not passed by the court or tribunal.

Required Documents:

  • Copy of the submitted complaint and responses by TANGEDCO (if available)
  • A copy of the latest electricity bill and personal ID proof
  • Documents related to electricity issues and supportive facts.

Procedure to Lodge Online Grievance to CGRF:

  • Click- Lodge now online grievance
  • Fill out the online application form with the required document.
  • Make a PDF file of all the required documents and upload it in the attachment section of the application. PDF file size must be within 3 MB.
  • Submit it and note down the petition ID/number to track the status of the case.
  • Click– Track the online status of the grievance

Note – If your grievance is not resolved within 2 months or unsatisfied with the final order of CGRF, TANGEDCO then you can file a petition to the Electricity Ombudsman within 30 days. To know more, read the instructions and procedure in the below section.


File Petition to Electricity Ombudsman (TNERC), Tamil Nadu

Electricity Ombudsman, Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (Tamil Nadu) was established under the Electricity (regulation) Act, 2003 to take the cases that were not resolved or unsatisfied with the final decision/order of Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), TANGEDCO (TNEB).

Customers can file a petition to resolve electricity issues to the Electricity Ombudsman if they are not satisfied with the final order of CGRF, TANGEDCO or if the grievance is yet unresolved even after the expiry of the given time. Follow the instructions below and the procedure to file a petition.

Instructions:

  • The petition must be filed within 30 days after the expiry of the period or after receiving the final order by CGRF.
  • The case should not be pending in any court or higher tribunal or the final order has been not passed by the court or tribunal.

Required Documents:

  • 3 copies of the application and attached documents were submitted to CGRF, TANGEDCO
  • Attach all the documents as proof of the electricity issue
  • Mention document proof of monetary loss (if have any loss)
  • Note – Keep a Xerox copy of all the submitted applications for future reference.

Procedure:

  • Download the Electricity Ombudsman application form: Download (ENG) | Download (Tamil)
  • Take a printout and fill out the required information.
  • Attach all the above-listed documents and take 3 copies of your application form and attached documents.
  • Sent it to the address below by post or submit it by himself.
  • Note – Take a copy of the application form for future reference.
